How to Grow Maize in Pots

MAIZE is also known as corn where originated in Southern Mexican Center and domesticate around 10000 yeaes ago. It is kind of Annual crop which mostly cultivated as the Third cultivar after Rice and Wheat all around the world.Therefore, Cambodian farmers also like working with this cultivar when they had harvesting Rice cultivation. Maize cn be grown on the field and needless irrigate the water demand because It is considered as Dryfarming crop. However, farmers or some garden also prefered planting maize in the pots. It is easily, faster growing and nutrient manaement for them. To grow maize in pots, you need to consider with your pot size are larger around 20 cm of Diameter.

This is some method for growing maize plant in pots;

• How to preparing materials for planting: prepare your favorite seed corn, planting medium (Topsoil, compost,) mixing it together, and pots with medium size around 30 cm height.

• How to plant: put soil medium into the pots and water it to be  moisture, place your corn seed 4-6 seeds with 2.5 cm depth and irrigate them after planting for two times (morning and evening).

• How to maintain: make sure that your soil pot are wetable,place your pots expose to sunlight with 12.5 hr/day, take some muching to the pots such as Rice straw, wheat straw to cover the soil pots, thining unhealthy plants just still remain only one healthy plant per pot and then do the weed control by handing and after that continue to water your plant util harveting time.

•  How to harvest plant: Normally, maize plant will havest when 95-120 days of growing period based on varieties and environmental condition.
